World’s first-ever centre for behavioural economics of breastfeeding founded

The Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation (FLRF) and the University of Zurich (UZH) are establishing the Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation (LRF) Center of Economics of Child and Youth Development with a Focus on Breastfeeding, at the Faculty of Economics of UZH. The Center will focus its research on the behavioural factors determining mothers’ decisions for or against breastfeeding. It will also focus on the long-term, socioeconomic effects of breastfeeding. The new professorship expands the global research network of FLRF-funded centres and professorships, which features the LRF Professorship for Human Lactation Research within the Faculty of Medicine at UZH, the LRF Mother-Milk-Infant Center of Research Excellence at the University of California, San Diego and the LRF Chair in Human Lactology at the University of Western Australia, Perth.
