Is breastfeeding and breastmilk research being conducted ethically? There is no room for guesswork.

Research in breastfeeding and breastmilk often focuses on vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, unborn babies or infants. Yet to date, there has been little focus on the ethical questions connected to such research.

The Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine at the University of Zurich, with support from FLRF, is seeking to change that by developing ethical evaluation standards and a compendium of questions to aid scientists and reviewers in their work.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2022 – discover more here.
