The World Health Organization recommends mothers exclusively breastfeed infants for the first six months to achieve optimal growth, development and health. Yet often, mothers require medical support and guidance to resolve lactation challenges and continue breastfeeding.
With LactaMap, medical practitioners now have a new source for current, evidence-based information at the point of care. LactaMap, whose content was developed by the LactaResearch Group at The University of Western Australia, functions as a decision support system, helping practitioners rapidly navigate its wealth of information with an intuitive care pathway to appropriate, evidence-based clinical information for their patients. LactaMap also contains informative materials about specific issues that can be given directly to breastfeeding mothers.
LactaMap was globally launched on 26th of March 2019 during the Webinar of the Breastfeeding Innovations Team (Group on LinkedIn), hosted by Leith Greenslade (CEO JustActions, New York, USA) . The tool is free of charge worldwide.
LactaMap has been appraised against the Agree II Instrument, the international gold standard for practice guidelines evaluation and development.
