The Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation attends two important events during the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly: Dr Katharina Lichtner, Managing Director of the Foundation, is invited as a speaker on UHC (Universal Health Coverage) Conference 2018; Janet Prince, RM, IBCLC and Head of Relations, participates in a round table discussion during the ICM UNGA Midwifery Champions Reception 2018.

The UHC Conference hosted by The Access Challenge is a far-reaching and diverse gathering of leaders, experts, and advocates to discuss the progress made, and the progress still needed to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030. High-level leaders come together to share important knowledge and experiences, to find solutions to entrenched obstacles, to strengthen the global partnership and to achieve sustainable improvement in universal health coverage. On the Child Health & Malaria Forum, Dr Katharina Lichtner stresses the necessity to more actively facilitate the translation of basic research findings to inform and drive evidence based policy formation and implementation. Furthermore, she emphasises the need for better Social-Return-on-Invest frameworks to improve the understanding of the value generated in society through health interventions helping to attract further funding from the philanthropic community to accelerate achievement of the health related SDGs.

The ICM UNGA Midwifery Champions Reception brings together and showcases the work of midwifery leaders as well as national and global influencers from government, civil society and international development agencies who have demonstrated commitment to ending preventable maternal and new-born morbidity and mortality through investment in or delivery of midwife-led maternity care. Janet Prince participate in a round table discussion about global midwifery.
