Congratulations to the 2019 MOMI Seeds awardees!

These five researchers received MOMI Seeds grants of USD 50,000 each from the Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Mother-Milk-Infant Center of Research Excellence (LRF MOMI CORE), University of California San Diego, to launch projects, generate critical data and gain novel insight into how breastmilk impacts maternal-infant health.

This year’s recipients were selected from 16 applicants. They will investigate breastmilk’s role in a range of contexts, such as whether it can protect us from the flu or reduce the rate of preterm births.

Now in its second year, the MOMI Seeds grant program has received a total of 37 distinct project proposals, highlighting the intense interest in breastmilk and human lactation research at the UCSD.
