Are current antibiotic guidelines also appropriate for exclusively breastfed, HIV-exposed but uninfected (HEU) infants?

The University of KwaZulu-Natal, with support from FLRF, launches a study to determine whether fully breastfed HEU infants need antibiotics to protect them from childhood infectious illnesses and mortality.

The World Health Organization currently recommends all HEU infants be protected with an antibiotic until they are weaned (and HIV can be excluded). The University of KwaZulu-NatalĀ is investigating further in South Africa.
