Now for the first time, Great Britain’s full Becoming Breastfeeding Friendly (BBF) initiative experience has been chronicled in a comprehensive Special Issue of Maternal & Child Nutrition.

Guest editors Rafael Pérez-Escamilla, Fiona Dykes and Sally Kendall introduce the three-country experience in a detailed editorial, noting it “illustrates how versatile BBF is as it can be readily adapted to the specific application context”.

Read their editorial here (‘Gearing to success with national breastfeeding programmes: The Becoming Breastfeeding Friendly (BBF) initiative experience’).

Indeed, the three BBF experiences were unique to each country. Yet each experience was positive, consistent with those from other countries, despite them having different national economic, social, political and health care systems.

The Special Issue concludes with an evaluation of the application process employed during the 2017-2019 BBF initiative experience in Great Britain.

FLRF is a proud supporter of the BBF initiative. We are grateful to each country and implementation team for working to scale up evidence-based programs aimed to protect, promote and support breastfeeding globally.
