Breastfeeding is considered one of the most effective ways to promote the health of children and mothers.
But how breastfeeding friendly is Switzerland really?
A study by the Institute of Midwifery and Reproductive Health at ZHAW provides, for the first time, well-founded insights into the structural conditions surrounding breastfeeding in Switzerland. Based on the Yale School of Public Health’s international “Becoming Breastfeeding Friendly” (BBF) initiative, the study highlights a significant need for action and considerable potential for effective improvements.
On 3 July, 2026, the results will be presented to the public for the first time, in German. The program includes the presentation of the final report “Becoming Breastfeeding Friendly Switzerland,” international perspectives, engaging presentations, and a panel discussion featuring experts from academia, politics, and the professional world.
